Impact Village, a model for the future

As a community we have the ability to live in a village surrounded with like-minded people who all work from home making the world better in one way or another.

In daytime the village’ co-working spaces will be filled with people exchanging ideas and being productive. At the evenings it’ll be cozy as the community members gather around the common areas. The weekends will be cheerful as we host events, ranging from parties to impact-hackathons.

In the middle of the beautiful Swedish country-side, yet close enough for regular visits to Stockholm (1 ½ hour) an impact-village is changing the world. Does this sound like a dream come true?

Step 1: Gather the villagers

First we need a critical mass (minimum ca 50 people) who are willing to take the first step to make this coliving village come to reality. We have until May 31st to make a proposal to the real estate agent. So for the coming few weeks, we will do all we can to gather at least 50 people. Hopefully the power of social media will stand by us, to make this village into a reality.

Step 2: Securing the village

With crowd-investment we finalize the deal with the real estate agent – so that we become the rightful owners of the village.

The real estate agent is looking for 50-70 million SEK (5-7m €) for the village. Your investment depends on the size of your accommodation.

Given it can accommodate 100+ people, including office-space for 100+ people and common-areas able to fit all these, it’s a bargain given we find enough people.

Step 3: Moving in

Its time to move in. Upon joining the village, you will be entitled a house or a room that you feel comfortable in. The only step now is to unpack your bags.

How we make use of all the village’s houses, and which fun events that will happen is up to you to imagine. To create the best co-living experience, we’ll use best practices and always keep A-B testing to find the methods that best increase everybody’s well-being and impact on the world.

Questions and answers

How do you choose members?

Our principles for people are:

Caring personality (a community can only thrive if everyone care for eachother)
Positive mindset (always look at the bright side of a problem, some drama or some misunderstandings)
Flexible work (preferably work from home (in the village) but also fine if you need to go Stockholm a few days a week)
Non-dogmatic (open for discussion and changing beliefs)
Impactful (helping the world in one way or another)

How does crowd-investment work?

Through a Swedish Aktiebolag (Limited company), we each deposit the “handpenning” (down payment) and get shares in the company accordingly. The remainder of the purchase price is financed through a bank (with no personal liability, as the estate act as the bond (sv: “borgen”). Upon being a shareholder, you are entitled to oversee how the village is controlled, who gets to live where, how the collective budget is managed etc.

I don’t work in impact / tech - can I still join?

Yes, we do want a diverse culture. As long as you’re priorities is to to create a better world, we understand that life-situations don’t always match our intentions. If feel that your personality fit what we’re trying to build, you’re welcome to become one of the villagers.

As an investor, do I have to live in the village full-time?

Preferably we’d get enough people who all invest and live full-time in the village. However, if you’d like just invest for supporting the mission of creating an atmosphere of impactful tech-creation, you’re welcome to rent your portion of the village to others.
